Join University of Exeter researchers, Dr Anne Le Brocq and Ellie Cook, and take a trip to Antarctica, all from the comfort of Gandy Street's Chococo cafe and chocolate house.

Dr Anne Le Brocq and Ellie Cook, from the Department of Geography will be welcoming members of the public at Chococo on Gandy Street on the 6th August, and introducing them to innovative Antarctica-themed research. Visitors can try out the video game 'Ice Flows, take a virtual tour of Antarctica, play along with some Antarctica Top Trumps, or cool off with some of Chococo's delicious gelato.

This event is part of the city's First Thursdays scheme, newly launched for 2026, which invites members of the public to Exeter's Gandy Street for late night, shopping, speciality food and drink, and performances. Supported by the University's Regional Engagement team, University of Exeter academics have been invited to join the celebrations with a series of pop-up talks, panels, and activities that invite visitors of all ages to engage with world-leading research.
